Ethan Bloom
A grieving thirteen-year-old is supposed to be preparing for his bar mitzvah. Instead he is secretly finding comfort in the Catholic church.
The story
Thirteen-year-old Ethan Bloomfield has lost his mother, and his bar mitzvah is coming up whether he is ready or not. What nobody knows is that he has been slipping into the Catholic church down the street, where Father Diaz offers a kind of quiet Ethan cannot find at home.
Guided by an unconventional rabbi, a complicated father, and a first romance, Ethan has to confront his lies and his grief to learn that faith is not about choosing sides.
